Conflict management

What is conflict management?

Conflict management is about identifying, addressing and resolving disagreements or tensions between employees in a constructive way. Conflict mediation involves, among other things, being curious about different points of view, reaching mutual agreement and working towards solutions that benefit both the individual and the organization as a whole. Appropriate conflict management is an important resource for any organization because it strengthens the psychological work environment and promotes overall collaboration.

Why should managers work with conflict management?

Conflict in organizations is inevitable. However, when managed appropriately and proactively, they can lead to development and growth. It is therefore crucial to have constructive tools at your disposal so that conflicts can be and managed quickly and professionally. Organizations and leaders should prioritize conflict management for several reasons:

1

Reduced productivity: Unresolved conflicts disrupt workflow and reduces productivity in teams. By managing conflict constructively, you can prevent this from happening.

2

Conflict escalation: Failure to manage conflicts can lead to escalation and have a significant negative impact on the psychological work environment. This negatively affects the entire team's dynamics and motivation negatively.

3

Positive organizational culture: Conflict management is not only a tool for problem solving, but but also an opportunity to strengthen an open and supportive organizational culture. When organizations proactively address conflict, it shows its commitment to a healthy work environment.
