Project management training

LEAD's project management training is both practice-oriented and so close to your reality that you get theory and training in planning your projects, leading your project team and managing your project to completion. You will also have the opportunity to reflect on and develop your own leadership style so that your personal leadership will emerge stronger from the program.roject manager training.

By combining teaching, practical exercises and reflection, you gain the tools to manage professional, efficient and successful projects. At the same time, you will develop your language and understanding of project management.

The demand for skilled project managers is on the rise - and with good reason. The success of projects depends to a large extent on the project manager having the experience and toolbox to ensure that the project reaches its goal with the desired effect.

LEAD's approach to project management

In LEAD's project management training, you will only meet teachers who also work as project managers themselves. They have many years of experience of the challenges and opportunities that real-life projects inevitably bring. They combine this experience with in-depth academic knowledge from their project management research.

Experienced trainers with practical and theoretical background

Your trainers are also highly experienced management consultants and trainers. This means that during the pthe project management program both the theoretical and practical approach to project management, as well as a deep understanding of leadership and personal leadership training.

One of the ways this is expressed is by completing and receiving feedback on a Leadership Versatility Index profile, which gives you a 180-degree evaluation of your own leadership profile. Versatile leadership is a situational leadership style that balances guiding with supportive leadership and strategic with operational leadership. This is why versatile leaders are proven to be more effective leaders, which benefits you as a project manager.

Focus of the project manager training

LEAD's project management training has a special focus on implementation and benefit realization as disciplines and end goals for projects. We get close to you with meetings in everyday implementation. Here, theory and practice are combined through instructor feedback. Everyday implementation is supported by an extensive video library that you can visit before, during and after the modules.

Structure and course of the project manager program

The project training is structured around four tracks. They are teaching, everyday implementation, organizational support and digital support. Through a carefully curated program, you will have the opportunity to learn about different aspects of project management, from project organization and communication to team management, agile project management and implementation. All with a focus on applying the learning directly to your own projects, ensuring a tangible impact for both you and your organization.

The four tracks are:

The teaching track is the actual teaching where all participants gather physically.

The Everyday Implementation track is where participants apply new knowledge and practice their project management skills in their own everyday life. It takes place between training modules and consists of a learning sprint that covers: everyday implementation meetings in groups, buddy activities, and practice of sample actions.

Structure and activities in everyday implementation

The daily implementation meetings last 2 hours per session and are facilitated by a trainer. Here, groups get feedback on their projects together with a trainer. In each module, participants identify 1-2 sample actions that they want to work on before the next module. The sample actions help the participants in their concrete development as project managers. Therefore, the sample actions are not just generic tasks related to a standard course, but concrete solutions to the challenges that the participants must succeed in solving in their daily lives.

The modules

In the first module, participants are put together in buddy pairs with whom they continuously spar with during the training. They decide from time to time how they can best help each other during the training by doing different activities between modules. This could be sparring or training on a specific tool, for example.

With these learning sprints, we work together to ensure that participants receive the feedback, sparring and advice they need to succeed in the role of project manager in the long run.

All research clearly shows that implementing new competencies has the greatest impact when there is organizational support. For this reason, the participant's immediate manager and project owner/steering group chair are included as an active part of the project manager training.

As part of the project manager training, participants must therefore hold two meetings with their line manager, before and after the training. Here they agree and evaluate the participant's learning objectives for participation in the program. During the training, a single meeting is held with the project owner/steering group chairman for the project case the participant brings to the program. The conversation is about the project manager's management of the project and the project manager's management upwards and outwards.

In preparation for each module, there will be learning videos of approximately 40 min. duration. These videos are accessible and can be viewed and replayed at any time.

In addition, the course will be supported by professional articles.

Cases

We require you to bring a project that serves as a practice course during the training program. It's important to work with your own cases to ensure a greater benefit and that both you and your organization experience a noticeable effect when you return to your daily tasks. This way, the theory, methods and tools are tested in practice.

Requirements for cases:

  • The project that makes up the case throughout the program must either be in the process of starting up or about to start up
  • It should be a project where you have the opportunity to influence project progress and decisions
  • It must be a project with a certain complexity in scope and stakeholders involved
