New Synthesis - an expanded mindset for working with public welfare

As cliché as it may sound, there is something to it:

When we say that public sector leaders have rarely faced more significant challenges than they do today. Citizens' demands on the public sector are growing and climate change is literally washing over us, demanding action from public authorities.

3 things you'll take away from this webinar:

  • Insight into the challenges public sector leaders face in delivering welfare in the future
  • Familiarity with the New Synthesis mindset
  • Inspiration for how you can use New Synthesis in e.g. management foundations

Who is the webinar host

Christian Nyvang Qvick - Chief Consultant at LEAD - Enter next level. Author of the management books 'Vision leadership - how to create a clear and meaningful direction for your organization' and 'Distributed leadership in the public sector'. In addition, he has written more than 40 articles, opinion pieces, columns and opinion pieces on leadership.

The Danish tax base is challenged by multinational companies that do not pay corporate tax, wages and working conditions are under pressure from foreign workers, and the demographic development with a sharply increasing number of elderly people in need of various public services from the public sector all put a solid pressure on the welfare state we know today.

This gives rise to a million-dollar question: How do we manage the public sector in a way where we can continue to deliver the same or better welfare in a time of shrinking resources, increased complexity and new expectations from citizens?

Description continues in the next section.

Leaders without self-awareness don't see the need to develop

Read one of Christian Nyvang Qvick's articles where he shares his own practical experiences as a consultant and talks about developing yourself as a leader requires a certain amount of self-awareness and mental energy. If you have both, you may be able to avoid ending up as the "uncle talker" at the family party.

The "New Synthesis" mindset offers an answer to this question. The mindset is inspired by ideas from several different governance paradigms and welfare rationales - including the order and system element from classic bureaucracy, the efficiency and optimization element from New Public Management, the co-creation and innovation element from New Public Governance and the entrepreneurial state's focus on building capacity to withstand and handle so-called "wicked problems".

New Synthesis is considered by many to be the answer to how public organizations of the future should be organized, led and managed, which is also the reason why an increasing number of public organizations are building their management foundation with New Synthesis as a "backdrop".

In this webinar, you'll gain insight into what New Synthesis is all about - and inspiration on how you can apply the ideas to equip your organization to deliver welfare under the conditions of the future.
