Set direction through a clear vision

"The good leader is able to set the direction for their organization". Most people have probably heard variations of this phrase at one time or another. But what does "setting direction" actually mean?

3 things you'll take away from this webinar:

  • A checklist of points to consider when communicating an appealing and motivating vision
  • Advice on how to concretize the vision so that it becomes present and relevant in relation to the daily task solution
  • A model you can use when you need input on vision content in visioning processes

Who is the webinar host

Christian Nyvang Qvick - Chief Consultant at LEAD - Enter next level. Author of the management books 'Vision leadership - how to create a clear and meaningful direction for your organization' and 'Distributed leadership in the public sector'. In addition, he has written more than 40 articles, opinion pieces, columns and opinion pieces on leadership.

Setting direction for your organization is first and foremost about communicating a vision for your organization. A vision describes the future dreams you want to realize, the improvements you want to achieve and the stories you want to create about your organization.

A vision describes the organization's picture of a desirable, long-term future - the picture of what you need to succeed with in 3, 5 or 7 years. But at the same time, we know from research that there are several places where you can risk "stumbling" in the vision work. The vision can end up as an airy platitude rather than a direction-setting and motivating guiding star. So, what do you need to keep an eye on if you want to formulate, communicate and anchor an appealing vision that inspires enthusiasm in the organization?

This webinar is just the first in a series of webinars covering the classic concepts in management literature:

Visions that prevail - or visions that sail?

Read one of Christian Nyvang Qvick's articles, where he shares his own practical experience as a consultant who has facilitated several visioning processes, that there are a number of obvious pitfalls to avoid if a vision is to end up "winning rather than sailing".
