Sexual harassment can lead to discomfort and anxiety
Sexual harassment in the workplace can lead to discomfort and anxiety - and have serious consequences for both individual wellbeing and the overall work environment. Clear policies and procedures are important to manage and prevent sexual harassment. Management and prevention requires an environment that prioritizes respect for individual boundaries and support for those who experience or observe transgressive incidents.
As an employer, you have a duty to prevent sexual harassment and other offensive behavior on a par with other health and safety issues. If you, as an employer, do not have the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent offensive actions that may pose a risk to safety or health, you can use the services of an authorized occupational health advisor. It's also important that you conduct a thorough workplace assessment (WPA) to identify and manage the risks related to harassment and other health and safety issues.
