Why a talk about the new generation?
Many organizations face challenges when colleagues across age groups need to collaborate.
There may be disagreements about how best to perform core tasks - for example, how to use digital tools or communication channels with customers, users or citizens.
When you're part of the older generation, you have a different understanding of what it means to go to work, collaborate and what a good working life is like than when you're from the new generation z. This is what's known as the generation gap, and it's here in the generation gap that conflicts and difficulties with collaboration thrive.
If we all have a basic understanding of why my colleague, who is from a different generation than me, acts the way he or she does, we have a much better chance of avoiding these generation gaps. And that ultimately results in greater cohesion between colleagues and better well-being in the workplace.
