Many employees, citizens and voters feel that the communication from their managers or politicians is filled with spin, clichés, platitudes and stilted wording. Full of bullshit. But it's hard to talk openly about the fact that we don't understand what the leader is saying. Sometimes we might even think that the manager doesn't know either. And that's a shame, because the lack of understanding can affect trust, well-being and security. It can damage collaboration, meaning and results. It can even lead to loneliness in the workplace because we hide behind alienating language.
