Wellbeing and performance measurement - Opportunities and pitfalls?

Monday, February 6, 2023, 09:00 - 10:00 am

In this webinar, we focus on how performance measurement affects wellbeing and collaboration.
Performance measurement and the use of key performance indicators (KPIs) is widespread in Danish workplaces, and we are all subject to goals and assessment in one form or another. Even if there are no explicit goals, there is always a history and expectation of a level of performance being measured. Performance measurement is a necessary management tool to manage the organization. Performance measurement or performance management is usually introduced with the best intentions of learning, improving well-being and performance.
But often, performance measurement and management based on KPIs have negative consequences for wellbeing and collaboration within the team and between manager and employees. Almost as often, the negative consequences are a surprise and can take time both to recognize and to correct. It is therefore essential that a company carefully analyzes the possible negative side effects when developing and implementing performance management. A particular disadvantage is that performance measurement can lead to tunnel vision and control the dialog with employees and thus well-being.
During the 60 min. you as a manager or TR will gain knowledge about what performance management is and how different types of KPIs affect well-being and collaboration both positively and negatively. This is exemplified with experiences and examples from concrete cases.

Specifically, you will gain insight into:

  • What is performance management
  • How KPIs affect wellbeing and performance
  • Managerial tunnel vision and the effect on the manager/employeerelationship
  • What you need to be aware of in your role as a TR/manager
  • Cases where performance management is implemented
