The problem with High and Unclear Demands

High demands refer to situations where employees face overwhelming workloads, complex tasks, or tight deadlines—often expected to deliver consistently high results without adequate resources/time.

Unclear demands arise when employees lack clear guidelines/information about what’s expected of them—leading to confusion, uncertainty, frustration, and difficulty prioritizing tasks.

Combined, these factors can lead to stress/reduced well-being/productivity. According to the Danish Working Environment Authority (2019), unclear demands/unpredictability are key risk factors for psychological work environment—potentially causing stress/burnout if not managed.
