Lea Sofia Simonsen

Lea Sofia Simonsen has 15 years of experience in international development and humanitarian work. She has specialized in leading complex international projects and building strong partnerships across cultures and sectors. Lea brings a global perspective to her work, shaped by a childhood in the Global South in a UN family, as well as an academic background that includes an MA in International Development from Roskilde University (Denmark) and a BA in International Relations from Colgate University (USA). She also brings with her professional experience in global programme work. 

Lea works within the fields of intercultural understanding and collaboration, change management, strategic governance, and programme development – with a particular focus on gender, inclusion, and youth rights. She has led international expansions and organizational transformation processes that have strengthened fundraising, collaboration, and sustainable workflows. Her work is characterized by a systemic approach and a strong ability to align diverse stakeholders around shared goals in complex, politically governed organizations. 

Furthermore, Lea is passionate about lifelong learning and has completed a Diploma in Leadership to further strengthen her toolbox for driving change and development.
